Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.62 miles Path Width /maximum/: 350 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/06/2025 Start Time: 03:56 PM EDT Start Location: Flat Rock / Muscogee County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 32.5445 / -84.8633 End Date: 04/06/2025 End Time: 04:00 PM EDT End Location: 1 SW Midland / Muscogee County / GA End Lat/Lon: 32.5649 / -84.8275 Survey Summary: A supercell embedded within a line of strong to severe thunderstorms generated a tornado that touched down in northern Muscogee County, just a few miles northeast of downtown Columbus. The tornado did its work quickly, initially touching down in the Beaver Run neighborhood. Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted along Widgeon Road and Trapper Way, extending to Psalmond Road. Structural damage in the neighborhood was mainly confined to a few homes with trees falling on them. No injuries occurred in this area. The tornado continued to track northeast, crossing the Bull Creek Golf Course. Numerous additional trees were down across the 500-acre public course. Unfortunately, 2 people trying to seek shelter under a tree during the storms were killed. Based on the location of where the fatalities occurred, we believe they weren't in the direct path of the actual tornado but very strong (75+ mph) inflow winds helped snap the trees. The tornado paralleled Hwy 27 (alternate) also known as Manchester Expressway snapping and uprooting additional medium to large-sized trees. EF- 1 damage is estimated between the Beaver Run neighborhood and Lynch Road near Hwy 27 (south side) where maximum winds were around 90 mph. Additional trees were snapped along Jackson Road and Lynch Road but a weakening trend is noted in the damage here. A few branches down along Midland Woods Drive (just south of Hwy 27) is where an estimated ending point is located. No additional damage was noted to the northeast of this area. .Bibb-Twiggs County Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 7.94 miles Path Width /maximum/: 450 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/06/2025 Start Time: 05:45 PM EDT Start Location: 3 WNW Huber / Twiggs County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 32.7426 / -83.5861 End Date: 04/06/2025 End Time: 06:03 PM EDT End Location: 2 E Dry Branch / Twiggs County / GA End Lat/Lon: 32.7969 / -83.4663 Survey Summary: A broken line of storms exhibiting occasional rotation (known as a Quasi-Linear Convective System, or QLCS) moved across Bibb and Twiggs counties and produced a tornado that began near the county border but progressed into northern Twiggs county. The beginning of the tornado is noted as being within the Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge at 5:45pm. This is a best estimate based on radar, as these areas are only accessible by foot or other means. This may be modified in a future update based on satellite data. The first indications of damage were along Highway 23 as the tornado emerged from the swamp directly along the Bibb-Twiggs County line. Tree damage could be seen along both sides of the roadway. Numerous trees had been snapped several feet above ground, with a few others uprooted, likely caused by winds of approximately 90 mph (EF-1). These impacted and brought down powerlines along the roadway. Broadcast media passed along tree damage that occurred near the broadcast towers located between Highway 23 and I-16 that was similar in magnitude. The tornado passed over I-16, causing more tree damage, then impacted Marion Road, where more uprooted and snapped trees were found consistent with EF-1 damage. The tornado continued northeast with an expanding wind field as it passed through a mostly unpopulated area with tree farms and other operations. EF-1 impacts were seen to trees along the intersection of Parker Rd and Riggins Mill Road, though a tree fell and impacted a home on Riggins Mill Rd. The tornado reached its widest point along Parker Road as it approached and passed over Hwy 80, with widespread EF-1 tree damage along Parker Road. The tornado continued to the northeast through an inaccessible area and weakened after this. Some very minor tree damage was found along Georgia Kaolin Rd where a tree fell in a church parking lot and a few snapped branches were observed. The tornado likely lifted very near this point, given no observed tornado damage along Old Gordon Rd to the north. ..Coweta-Fayette-Spalding County Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 14.10 miles Path Width /maximum/: 250 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/07/2025 Start Time: 07:22 AM EDT Start Location: 3 SW Digbey / Coweta County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 33.2279 / -84.524 End Date: 04/07/2025 End Time: 07:38 AM EDT End Location: 2 S Sunny Side / Spalding County / GA End Lat/Lon: 33.3088 / -84.3043 Survey Summary: An EF1 Tornado with maximum winds of 90 mph touched down in far Southeastern Coweta County just west of Gray Girls road at approximately 7:22 AM EDT on April 7,2025. The tornado snapped some trees next to a house and onto an outbuilding along Gray Girls Road. Damage in this area and for much of its path was consistent with EF0 tornadic wind damage. The tornado continued ENE into Spalding county crossing Hollonville Road, Fairview Road, and Hardy Road uprooting and snapping several trees. A neighborhood along Landing Way and West Ellis Road had several trees snapped and uprooted including 2 onto homes. Further northeast along New Salem Road several trees were snapped and uprooted including one onto a home. The tornado continued ENE along Vaughn School Road downing trees and powerlines and eventually reaching hwy 92 and Vineyard Road and Steele Road. Numerous trees were snapped or uprooted particularly in the area around Steele road region between Steele and Vineyard road, and it was in this area where the tornado reached EF1 intensity with estimated max winds of 90 mph. Not long after reaching max intensity, radar data and ground survey both conclude that the tornado began to occlude and weaken as a new tornadic circulation began to form approximately 1.5 miles north. Tree damage was noted along Caldwell Road eastward to Patterson road where this tornado weakened and lifted. At the same time this tornado weakened along Patterson Road south of Manley road, approximately 7:38 AM EDT, a new tornado was developing along Patterson road 1.5 miles north. .Spalding County Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 80 mph Path Length /statute/: 4.30 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/07/2025 Start Time: 07:38 AM EDT Start Location: 2 SSW Sunny Side / Spalding County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 33.3213 / -84.3113 End Date: 04/07/2025 End Time: 07:44 AM EDT End Location: 2 WNW Towalaga / Spalding County / GA End Lat/Lon: 33.3307 / -84.238 Survey Summary: An EF0 tornado with maximum winds of 80 mph touched down in northern Spalding County along Patterson road around 7:38 AM EDT on April 7, 2025. The tornado snapped a few trees along Patterson Road eastward along Mobley Road. The storm crossed Hwy 19 with no damage noted, however, just east of hwy 19 along Ga Hwy 3 there were numerous trees downed including one onto a home along Carolyn Dr. The tornado continued east in a mostly inaccessible and wooded region east of North Pomona Road before crossing Teamon Road where several trees were snapped on both sides. The tornado weakened in the Meeks St. area at around 7:44 AM. This tornado was part of the same storm which spawned a tornado in western Spalding county 15 minutes prior and up to this one beginning. A detailed radar analysis suggests that this tornado formed as the prior tornado weakened approximately 1.5 miles south. While this tornado was contained within the larger circulation of the same parent storm, it held its own separate tornado debris signature giving confidence to the survey of a separate tornado path. .Henry County Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 75 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.62 miles Path Width /maximum/: 75 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 04/07/2025 Start Time: 07:48 AM EDT Start Location: 2 NNE Luella / Henry County / GA Start Lat/Lon: 33.373 / -84.1571 End Date: 04/07/2025 End Time: 07:50 AM EDT End Location: 3 NW Locust Grove / Henry County / GA End Lat/Lon: 33.3782 / -84.1297 Survey Summary: An EF0 Tornado with maximum winds of 70 to 75 mph touched down in southern Henry County just west of Lester Mill Road at around 7:48 AM EDT on April 7, 2025. The tornado snapped a few trees on both sides of the road and continued eastward crossing I75 just south of the Bethlehem road overpass. Several trees on the east side of the interstate were snapped. GDOT cameras at the time the tornado passed showed the construction barrels being tossed onto the interstate. The tornado formed as part of a storm which also spawned a tornado further to the west in Spalding county near Griffin GA approximately 20 minutes prior to this tornado. Radar data also shows a brief Tornado Debris signature in the area near the tree damage east of Lester Mill Road and across I75. The tornado lifted at approximately 7:50 AM EDT just before reaching Hwy 23. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
